It’s simple…. you crash land, you are an alien, you meet a girl. Next, her brother feeds you an apple and you meet the family. Based on their kindness and, I’m guessing, how delish that apple was, you decide to protect the family from enemy fire. WARNING: this game does end on a bit of a depressing note, and the score is sad-sounding.
The music is beautiful and the graphics gorgeous for a flash game. You wander around helping people, which is harder than you might expect. I was really impressed with this game. Pay attention; the game is littered with side comments such as writing on the walls stating “this world is a lie.”
Silent Conversation, http://armorgames.com/play/4287/silent-conversation
Jumping, reading, this game features the work of authors such as T.S. Eliot, H.P. Lovecraft, e.e. cummings and many more. It’s challenging and powerful.
Don’t Look Back, http://gambolio.com/#/game-play:15977/
This one was frustrating as shit and took me two hours to beat, but the theme is cool. It is like the legend of Orpheus and Eurydice—you start out looking at a grave, then go into the depths of hell…. which really is hellishly exasperating! The flash screen and noise of dying and restarting when I failed over and over… oh god….. the fire pits level is a bitch! And just when you reach your love, it’s not over! When you reach the grave, it’s sad… but all worth it in the end.
I wish I were the Moon, http://www.kongregate.com/games/danielben/i-wish-i-were-the-moon
Took me a bit, but I found all the endings. This is a very simple game based on the short story The Distance of the Moon. Pretty neat! Here’s a cool animation based on the same story, too.
I Can Hold My Breath Forever, http://dai5ychain.net/breath/
In this one, you go into underwater caves and find cute little letters that start out with “My dear friend.” They’re so sweetly written, and all in li’l air pockets! Catch is, you only have ten seconds between pockets. It is really, really, really cute. I adored it. It may be my favorite flash game yet. Adorable to the max.
Every Day the Same Dream, http://armorgames.com/play/6244/every-day-the-same-dream
The music is AWESOME. Also, I like it ‘CAUSE I LIKE TO DEFY THE RULES IN GAMES AND GO AGAINST WHAT THEY TELL ME TO DO. Start by doing what the game asks of you….then just do what you want! Potential depressing endings (that seems to be a theme this time around, sorry!), but please don’t let that deter you from playing.
Babies Dream of Dead Worlds, http://ludusnovus.net/my-games/babies-dream-of-dead-worlds/
This is less of a recommendation and more of a review. I thought this game was creepy and stupid. I had heard great things about it, and tried over and over to give it a chance. It just isn’t for me. I’m throwing it in here solely because of the praise others have heaped on it. Maybe someone else will play it and be able to enlighten me as to its greatness. Until then: this game is dumb.
(I Fell in Love With) The Majesty of Colors, http://gambolio.com/#/game-play:9267/
I am not quite sure what happened, but I fed a kid to a shark.
The Game, http://gambolio.com/#/game-play:10371/
Ahahhahahaaa, I can’t explain it. It’s just….ahahahahaha…awesome.
